People die in different places, ally with different people, and generally act in ways which have nothing to do with their historical personas. Plot takes a back seat to ensuring the protagonists-the playable characters in the original game-are as cool and overpowered as possible.īecause the heroes mostly fight each other this episode, there's very little mook tossing, which is otherwise the show's favorite sportĪny pretense to historical accuracy is thrown out the window. Named characters rip through hoards of mooks without the slightest impediment, while fights between “bosses” will lead to glowing battle auras (heroes in primary colors, villains in purple or green). The show’s roots as an hack and slash action game are not just acknowledged but openly celebrated. Takeda rides standing on the backs of two horses, with which he has occasionally charged up walls. Yukimura dual-wields two-handed spears and, like Date, displays leaping abilities more akin to flight.
Date wields six katanas simultaneously and rides a horse equipped with handlebars and exhaust pipes. In Sengoku Basara, Oda is moustache twirling villain who uses a human skull for a goblet and has a stormy vortex of clouds in the sky above him at all times. He more or less said so every chance he got Nobunaga Oda was a card carrying member of the evil league of evil. I do not link to them because reading about these figures will help you to understand the show, for Basara exhibits the same concern for historical accuracy that it extends to the laws of physics: none whatsoever. I have included links to Wikipedia because this is a fascinating period of history which has quite understandably inspired dozens of fictional works. Forming an alliance with Kenshin Uesugi and just about every other still living daimyo, the group defeated and killed Oda and freed Japan to descend back into the chaos of civil war. The original season focused on the efforts of daimyo (feudal lord) Masamune Date (above left) and Yukimura Sanada (above right), the retainer of daimyo Shingen Takeda, to stop Nobunaga Oda from uniting all of Japan under his iron boot. The show focuses on the last decade of this period, however, as unification finally comes into view.
SENGOKU BASARA 2 EPISODE 1 SERIES
(The game series is marketed in America as Devil Kings.) Obstensibly, the game focuses on the Sengoku period, the century and half of constant war as various generals and regional warlord attempted to take control of all of Japan. Chōsokabe then tells Motonari to hold their fight and head towards Azuchi with Keiji, Maeda, Matsu, and Kasuga, and Motonari also had no choice but to join the fight as well.Sengoku Basara is an anime series based off a video game series of the same name. Keiji however survived and broke-up the fight and manages to convince them to stop, but the arrival of Kasuga implied the assault on Azuchi Castle had begun. In anger and disbelief, Keiji then attacks Motonari but was his by an arrow and fell in the ocean, with Maeda and Matsu onboard the Fugaku watched in shocked and Chōsokabe in rage, leading the two sides to attack each other. The two sides later meet at sea, but Motonari tricked them as he got his men on Chōsokabe's possession killed and has the Fugaku surrounded and then demand that Chōsokabe abandons the Fugaku to him, which he refused. Motochika then reveal Keiji's plan to Maeda and Toshiie and suggest to them to find their resolve, which after their meeting, led the two to no longer support Oda. Keiji is then confronted by Motonari for his reasons and Keiji replied for the two to meet of the hostage exchange for their spies and an alliance for Chosukabe and Mori of intent to attack Oda, but also reveal about Chōsokabe's new weapon, Fugaku, leading Mori to accept the meeting. When Motochika refuses both Maeda and Matsu prepared to attack, but instead Chōsokabe tells them about choosing the wrong lords to serve and mentioned Keiji, who was currently imprisoned in Aki at Itsukushima. The two who revealed themselves to be serving Oda Nobunaga had arrived with a message for Motochika to seed Sanuki and Eao. Taking place before the event of episode 12, the episode starts with the appearance of Chōsokabe Motochika, and was informed by his men that two individuals have appeared: Maeda Toshiie and his wife, Matsu.
